Hadleigh is an ancient market town with a modest population of around 8,000 set on the River Brett, in the idyllic heartlands of South Suffolk, close to the Essex border.
The backbone of the town is the bustling high street which is characterised by a wide range of 27 listed buildings hosting pubs and restaurants as well as traditional English tea rooms and the ever-popular Coffee Tavern.
Set against the backdrop of the rolling Suffolk countryside, the town has provided the artistic inspiration for many famous painters, including Cedric Morris and Arthur Lett-Haines.
It is this rural appeal which entices many relocating families to the area looking to take advantage of the gentler way of life and the range of excellent schools nearby.
The town also has easy access to the A12/14 motorways with rail connections to the main Suffolk hubs of Sudbury and Ipswich and further afield, London Fenchurch and Liverpool Street by connection.
Hadleigh highlights include:

Hadleigh is served by three primary schools within the local catchment area with one secondary school providing education for children aged 11-16.
The town’s three primaries, St Mary’s CofE, Beaumont Community and Hadleigh Community were all rated ‘good’ following their latest Ofsted inspections.
The local secondary, Hadleigh High School forms part of the South Suffolk Learning Trust with three other schools and has capacity for around 750 students.
It was last inspected by Ofsted in January, following which it was also rated as ‘Good’.
One of the closest colleges is Suffolk New College in Ipswich. It provides courses for students from across south Suffolk. In 2009 it constructed a new building costing £70 million.
The report heaped praise on the incoming headteacher and her ‘ambitious places to redevelop the school’s curriculum supported by a capable and versatile team of senior leaders, governors and staff who are proud to be members of the school community’.
Hadleigh has a friendly and welcoming community with an extensive social calendar and a range of different sport, hobby and interest groups to get involved with.
As a major market town, the busy farmers’ market, which takes place every Friday is not to be missed. Get down early to nab some locally made chutneys, cheeses and pies, or even fresh seafood from the Suffolk coast.
The annual Hadleigh Show is one of the oldest one-day agricultural shows in East Anglia. There are a range of traditional activities to try your hand at from archery to clay pigeon shooting as well as cookery lessons and even… monster trucks!
In the lively town centre there are some great pubs and restaurants to tick off, including The Ram and the White Horse which are particularly popular with the locals.
Two Tree Island a nature reserve, run by Essex Wildlife Trust is a popular spot for ‘tweeters’, a range of wild birds who nest here annually, including Waders, Avocets and gulls. There are several bird hides where you can get up close and observe the birds.
For a fun and unusual day out, Glass and Craft in Kersey Mill is a great family-friendly studio where you can get creative with a range of glass, ceramic and wood painting. Kids love getting messy with foam clay modelling and mosaics and even have the opportunity to make their own teddy bear!
