    Why Move to Rayleigh?

Rayleigh is a small market town located in the District of Rochford in Essex with a population of around 33,000.

Once an ancient royal hunting ground the town has one of the best Norman castle locations in Essex, now a National trust site.

Despite the influx of disgruntled London renters, the town has retained its community focus. There is a club or society for just about every activity you can think of, from the local brass band to sailing and even one of the largest horticultural societies in Essex.

With great local amenities, plenty of open spaces and close transport connections to the capital, Rayleigh is a desirable relocation destination for relocating families and first-time buyers alike.

    Highlights include:

Competitively priced housing stock with varied styles ranging from new builds to character properties.

Convenient travel connections to Chelmsford, Colchester and London with the latter just 40 minutes direct to London Liverpool Street.

Fancy a trip to the seaside? Southend-on-Sea and the Essex coastline are just a short drive away, as is the stunning South Essex countryside.

Wide selection of high performing state and grammar schools in the local catchment area.

Just ten minutes from the River Crouch, a premier sailing destination in the South of England.

There is also the Sweye Park School, an academy school which opened a new state of the art sixth form in 2014 which was praised by Ofsted in a recent report.

Two grammar schools service the town and are located in nearby Southend. They are Southend Boys and Southend Girls Grammar and both have very good reputations and consistently return some of the best GCSE and A Level results in the county.

Rayleigh is located just 10 minutes from the River Crouch, a premier sailing destination and the sport is very popular and plays a large part in the community.

The Up-River Yacht Club holds regular events and competitions. With the help of Sport England, the club has built up a fleet of modern safe dinghies perfect for beginners and experienced yachtsmen and women.

An adrenaline pumping excursion in the town itself is the popular Rayleigh Indoor Karting Stadium which also happened to be the longest indoor karting track in the UK. Perfect for kids birthday parties or just a fun and competitive day with your mates.

The Rayleigh Windmill is an award-winning tourist and educational attraction. It contains an accredited museum, an exhibition space and more information about the National Trust designated, Rayleigh Mount.

Rayleigh Mount is a castle motte on the site of Rayleigh Castle, which no longer stands. The castle was a masonry and timber castle built near the town of Rayleigh in Essex in the 11th century shortly after the Norman Conquest. Situated next to a beautiful sensory garden it’s a great way to spend a few hours and learn more about this 200-year-old Grade II listed building.
