7 Reasons Why You Should Relocate To Great Yarmouth

Haven’t heard of Great Yarmouth before? Where to even start…

Known as just Yarmouth to the locals, it is one of the most popular British seaside resorts on the east coast of the UK. Found in Norfolk, it’s renowned for its sandy beaches with the stunning seafront being dubbed the ‘Golden Mile’.

Great Yarmouth started as a roman port of major importance and became known as a town in 1086. This seaside resort has a rich and ancient history of which ‘the sea has had an incredible impact on life and landscape over the centuries.’

There is an endless list of things to do here, from adrenaline adventures up in the trees to shark and seal spotting on the sandbank of Scroby Sands and, of course, everything in between!

Continue reading on and you may find yourself moving there very shortly…

Sunshine Coast

Part of the expanse up in Norfolk known as the Sunshine Coast, Great Yarmouth experiences over 330 hours of Sun during the Summer as seen in July 2018.

It is a brilliant location during this time, attracting millions of visitors between May and September. A popular activity for tourists is often seal spotting, where, just like yourself, they can be seen sunbathing in their natural habitat.

But let’s not forget the winter months. In winter, locals will flock to the seas to surf and kitesurf. It is the best season for these sports due to the wind from the west which is more common in winter.

Nature Reserves

Being away from major cities means that there is far more space to host nature reserves and to have vast, protected areas.

So, once you’ve settled in after moving to Great Yarmouth, make sure to leave the town every now and then and make your way to RSPB Berney Marshes and Breydon Water; a wonderful and unspoilt nature reserve offering peaceful walks and open skies.

Commuting times from …heaven?

If you’ve ever had to commute to work, then you know the kind of hell that can be.

Here in Great Yarmouth, you won’t have to be worried about getting stuck in those sauna-esque London Underground tubes on the hottest days of the year.

Instead, enjoy a 35-minute drive to the closest city, being Norwich. Everything is within an arms-reach in this quaint town.

Rich Heritage

Home to fantastic heritage, throughout the town it is possible to spot the effect of every era since it was found.

Boasting six museums, including the award winning ‘Tide and Time’ museum, there is endless history to be explored.

Yarmouth was often frequented by Admiral Lord Nelson himself, with the port being populated with wealthy merchants and customers alike.

To get to know the town even more, it is definitely recommended to take a guided heritage walk to learn everything, from the medieval wall to the Fishermen’s Hospital.

Great value property

The average price for a 4-bedroom house is only £280,000! So, if you’re moving from London or any city in England, you’re in for a treat.

If you’re only looking to buy a 1-bedroom flat, then the average price is currently £105,000.

Right now, there is a property for sale on Zoopla that is £400,000 for a 5-bedroom mansion that has its own cinema room in the attic!

Whether you want to splash the cash or grab something a little more affordable, there are plenty of options available to you.

Constantly Developing

Now is the perfect time to move to Great Yarmouth, with the town’s council having plans to spend more than £100m over the next seven years.

This will include things such as strengthening the town centre; improving the marketplace; redeveloping and improving roads as well as developing the Hall Quay area.

On top of this, a development known as ‘The Edge, is taking place. This is a £25 million development project which will aim to boost the attraction of the Golden Mile throughout the winter months.
