Harrow is certainly a popular choice for those thinking of moving to London.

The area is teeming with period properties and is renowned as one of the capital’s more affluent areas.

With the average cost of a property sitting at over £500,000, Harrow is not an inexpensive area.

However, it does work out significantly cheaper than London’s overall average price paid, which is well over £700,000.

Harrow offers plenty of options when it comes to property type.

In fact, there are an astonishing 1578 currently on the market across the area.

Homes found in the highly regarded Harrow-on-the-Hill area provide views on the stunning London scenery.

Moving to this area will be more expensive, with many homes here costing well over £1,000,000.

Luckily, it is not all about expensive homes when living in Harrow.

Cost of Living

It is a fact that London is just about the most expensive place to live in the UK. Being our capital city that is no big revelation.

You cannot change the high cost of property.

Some areas of London, such as Ealing do work out less expensive compared to the more expensive locations such as Kensington, Belgravia, and Mayfair.

However, there is generally not a huge difference in the cost of living from borough to borough.

What you can change is how, where, and how much money you spend of your monthly income after the essentials have been paid.

If you want to achieve your financial goals as quickly as possible, one of the ideal things to do is have a complete financial overhaul.

See if there are areas where you can cut back or just shop smarter.

What we spend during our time off adds up very quickly.

It is hard to go to a shopping centre and not splash out!

Equally, many attractions in London charge hefty entrance fees.

Make two of the four weekends in a month more about getting out and enjoying Harrow’s green spaces.

The area offers some beautiful open spaces ideal for a run, a picnic or simply a leisurely stroll, all for free!

Another excellent money-saving idea is to invest in a Tastecard.

For as little as £5.99 per month, you can become a member and enjoy as much as 50% off your favourite takeaway, 33% off cinema tickets and 50% off London attractions.

Employment

Finding work at the best of times can be difficult, however, as we emerge from the Covid pandemic, things are looking very positive on the employment front right across the UK.

Although Harrow has two underground stations and plenty of its residents opt to commute the short journey into the city, others choose to work in Harrow itself.

The quirky local high street has plenty of independent shops, tea rooms, and pubs so those who have experience in customer service and catering have ample opportunities for finding work.

As central Harrow forms a commercial hub there are also a significant number of commercial offices dotted around the town providing avenues for those with management or clerical qualifications.

The district of Wealdstone situated in the centre of Harrow has been subject to major renovation projects. It has created a lot of work connected to the building industry.

These investments and upgrades in services, new homes, and infrastructure will ensure that employment opportunities within the town continue to rise well into the future.
